I am Isabel Alvarez, I met you in several world cups when I used to fenced for Colombia. I live in Coulmbus, OH. Fencing has been my passion all my live. I started to fence when I was 11 years old and during my junior years I never got the chance to participate in any international competition. Colombia never had the budget to promote fencing at the world cup level. So after graduating from College and saving some money at age 38 I came back to fencing in 2003 and asked Colombia to let me fence on my own, and Colombia did. I met you and the Italian team in NY in 2003. My reason of participating in the world cups was to learn, to be able to understand what does it take to fence at that level. I wanted to become a coach and for that reason it was imperative for me to be able to fence and learn at the world cup level. And I did learned a lot. Every time I got the chance to see you with your team, I was paying attention to everything you did, everything your fencers did, I tried to learned from you and your fencers. Maybe you noticed it , I was with my video cam all the time, always videotaping all the matches, all your moves. I was very impressed with your coaching style, the way you talked to your team when they were down and how in a very paternal way you were able to lift up their spirits and take them to the podium as winners. Well I open my fencing club over a year ego, I have a a nice group of kids, ages 7 to 14, I would like to be able to coach them and take them to the world cup level. And I wanted to ask for your advise. I went to the coaches college in Colorado to become a certified coach in foil and Saber, but I would like to be able to learn more from the Italians. Would you be so kind to direct me of how to become a fencing master. If by any change you will be teaching coaches, would you please let me know I would love to come and learn from you. May be you can come to America and give a Clinic. I am pretty sure a lot of people will pay to learn from you. Well I wish you the best and I hope I get the chance to be able to learn from you more.
